Yes - it's true! RSSC and the great program it delivers happens entirely thanks to volunteers. Our Coaches, our Board members, competition organizers and even rink preparation from mats during short-track and snow removal/sweeping during long-track ... EVERYTHING is done by volunteers.
The more volunteers we have the more we can do and the easier it is on everyone. In fact we require all club members/families to volunteer throughout the year. You can select ways to help that fit your schedule and skill set... or just jump in when we ask. Some of our volunteer opportunities are more formal like the Board positions or the volunteer team positions linked to certain Board roles, other opportunities are more say to day or event specific. No matter what - RSSC cannot function without everyone's help!
RSSC Board Positions:
NOTE: Coordinator volunteers are NOT expected to do all of the work in their portfolio on their own. Each position is designed with the intention of having other committee/team volunteers to help. If you are not interested in a Board position but are interested in one of the "teams" below the Coordinator would be thrilled to speak with you.
President - responsible for calling and chairing meetings, maintains overview/leadership of overall annual operational plans and represents the Club as needed including as RSSC rep on SASSA Board.
Treasurer - responsible for management of Club finances including bank reconciliations, budget and coordination of annual audit/financial review.
Secretary - responsible for preparation of Board agendas, meeting arrangements and minute taking as well as annual report preparation. Also often assists with communications and/or grants if needed.
Membership Coordinator - responsible for recruitment and administrative systems supporting club member development. Manages annual registrations as well as Club socials and other member related events. Shares and tracks volunteer opportunities with members.
Facilites & Equipment Coordinator - responsible for booking/managing of indoor ice time and coordination with the City of Regina for preparation/maintenance of long track oval facilities, including facility arrangements for RSSC competitions. Also responsible for assessment and ordering of necessary equipment such as skates and mats along with equipment rental management.
Communications Coordinator - responsible for more "internal" communications of the Club including website management and member communications such as eblasts and newsletters.
Marketing & Promotions Coordinator - responsible for more "external" communications that promote the Club to the citizens of Regina and nearby communities. Promotion can include school presentation management, participation in Santa Claus parade, creation of Club promotional brochures etc. All designed to increase awareness (and hopefully participation) of the Club.
Competitions Coordinator - responsible for the planning and delivery of any RSSC hosted competitions as well as "registrar" management for RSSC Skaters attending non-RSSC competitions. This is certainly one Coordinator job that needs a core team to help in planning and registration management as well as LOTS of help when we host a competition.
Coach & Athlete Development Coordinator - responsible for coordinating development & providing support for RSSC volunteer coaches at all levels. Provides a conduit between the Board and our Coaching team to share information, ideas, needs and plans with an overall focus on development of our athletes. Also helps arrange special training opportunities for athletes and even new coach development as needed.
Revenue Development Coordinator - responsible for securing additional funds for the Club from donations, sponsorships, grants and fundraisers. Coordinates the delivery of Club fundraisers that provide members with the potential to reduce their annual skater fees. This position is most effective when supported by a few volunteer team members to effectively cover all revenue development opportunities.
NON - Board Volunteer Roles
RSSC Coaches - These volunteers are essential... and we are super lucky to have some dedicated volunteer coaches. Coach Brad is an additional support resource and helps with long track and SASSA Provincial Coach Tim Comfort joins us at points throughout the year. What a GREAT team of support our skaters have!
Equipment Rentals - The equipment manager takes care of our Club equipment and helps our families ensure they have the skates and safety gear to make the most of each year.
OPEN Volunteer Roles - Consider helping today!
On Ice support/developing coach
We are also more than happy to hear from parents and past skaters who would be willing or interested to help on the ice. All of our Coaches were parents or skaters... and RSSC is happy to have your help.

Read the Board positions and see if there is a team you would like to help. There are a number of Coordinators from Membership to Revenue Development that would love to have support in their work.
